ADDITION TO BEE ??? Got reply to move things us higher, cant do with garden wall !!!!!!!?
asked ques about wasp problem before in garden wall, grill leg holes, tiny openming in gazebo roof framing, etc. no way these things can be moved higher, etc. not funny as these wasps are dangerous and need way to try keep away from areas, also now nests in small low shrubs. yrs ago only up high in trees, etc. WANT SENSIBLE solution, too many places for exterminator, $$$$$
We had this bad of a wasp infestation about 5 years ago ~ short of nuking your property the only sensible thing is to temporarily move your stuff to another part of the yard while you deal with the problem.
The first thing we did was plug the holes they were living in; I used artists modeling clay, called Fimo...it's slightly tacky and totally reversible. You won't be able to reach all the holes, but do the best you can.
Next, we put on heavy clothing, gloves, and hats and covered our heads with tulle purchased from a fabric store. Using brooms, we knocked down all the hornets nest we could find. (Yes, it really made them mad!)
The final step was to buy about 20 hornet traps ~ the ones that use apple cider ~ and drape them all over the place where the hornets congregate. Within a month, the vast majority of the hornets were either dead or had moved on.
