my baby does not babble or imitate sounds ?
my 8 months old premie ( adjusted age 6 months) doesn't imitate the sounds we make neither she babbles.
other than that she responds to her name , make various sounds randomly but she does not imitate us. I read on babycenter that if the baby does not do this by the age of 4-6 months , it is a warning sign !
Hope these suggestions help ~
If your baby will turn to a sound made behind them (ie baby faces forward - from behind softly shake a rattle - if they turn then they have clearly heard the sound!) this is a good sign that hearing is not limited.
Play music (nursery rhymes are great as they are repetative and simple words) and give her a rattle to shake - the car is a great place for music (small space and limit to other distractions!) babies love music and rhythm
Talk to her and to others constantly - tell her what your doing for the day, what's for breakfast, comment on things around you as you go about your day to day - use correct words - your "babble" will encourage her to make sounds.
She might just be a quiet soul - taking it all in and waiting for her moment to shine.
