Why can't pit bull's eat chocolate ?
I heard pit bulls react a certain way when given chocolate...is this true?
Thanks for everyones input. I've never given my pitbull chocolate, but was curious to know the reason why it can't be done.
There's a lot of animals that can't have chocolate - cats, dogs (and not just pit bulls), and ferrets (I'm sure there are others, but they are the three I know of for sure). For them, chocolate is a poison, even in very small amounts. It can cause seizures, even death. Chocolate contains caffeine and theobromine, two different types of stimulants that affect the central nervous system and the heart muscle, as well as increasing the frequency of urination.
